Regency Hospitals accept patients who:

  • Require 8–12 hours of direct nursing care per day.
  • Are expected to require acute care for an extended period of time.
  • Are medically stable for transfer.
  • Have an ability to improve their health status.
  • Will benefit from the involvement of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Require daily physician visits.

Referrals

Anyone may make a referral, however, a physician order is required for admission. Free pre-admission screening assessments are available to determine if your patient is a candidate for Regency Hospital.

Reporting

Every caregiver team at a Regency Hospital has a case manager who handles reporting to referring hospitals and physicians. The case manager or attending physician is always available to answer any questions and provide ongoing communication.

  • How do I make a referral?

  • What is the referral process?
    Patients are referred to Regency Hospital by a variety of sources: physicians, social workers, case managers, nursing homes, even the patient’s caregiver or family member. To refer a patient to Regency Hospital, simply call the referral number and ask for the intake coordinator who will take the referral information and complete the entire intake process with you.
  • Who can admit patients to a long term acute care (LTAC) hospital?
    Any licensed physician on the medical staff at Regency Hospital can admit a patient. Physicians interested in having staff privileges may apply for review by the medical staff team. Temporary privileges may be given while completing the standard application process to assure continuity of care.
  • What types of patients does a long term acute care hospital admit?
    Long-Term IV Therapies (three weeks or longer), Ventilator/Pulmonary Care, Hemodialysis or Peritoneal Dialysis, Post CVA, Post-Surgical, Low-Tolerance Rehabilitation, Wound Care, Complications of Infectious Process.
  • Has my physician decided how long I will be at Regency?
    Your physician knows you need intensive critical care for a longer period of time, typically 25 days or more, however, your length of stay may increase or decrease based on your progress.
  • Does a referring physician follow his/her patients upon transfer to Regency Hospital?
    Physicians may follow their patients or refer the attending physician role to any member of the Regency Hospital medical staff. If the care is transferred to an attending physician, the referring physician may resume the role of primary care upon the patient’s discharge from the hospital. During the time the patient is under the care of the Regency Hospital physician, a bi-weekly report will be sent to the referring doctor.
